Wagnney Fabiano Silva Dos Santos
Head of Nova União Canada & 5th Degree Black Belt
Wagnney Fabiano is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Wendell Alexander who turned into a professional MMA fighter in the early 2000s, becoming the IFL (International Fight League) Featherweight Champion. A very successful BJJ competitor in the 1990’s, Fabiano conquered several important trophies such as the Brazilian National Championship and the National Teams tournament.
Wagnney is the head coach at the Santos Brothers BJJ gym in Toronto, Ontario.
Leonardo Silva Dos Santos
President of Nova União & 5th Degree Black Belt
Leonardo Santos graduated as a black belt under Wendel Alexander and become the youngest World Champain of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. With numerous titles in his grappling career, Leo Santos was regarded by many as the best lightweight fighter of his generation, having victories over several great fighters. In 2006 Leo Santos ended his career with the kimono to follow his brother’s footsteps (Wagnney Fabiano) towards MMA fighter,.
He is now the President of Nova Uniao and can be seen competing in the UFC.

Wendell Alexander
Co-Founder of Nova União
Wendell Alexander is one of the most prominent unsung heroes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The Co-Founder of one of the biggest teams in BJJ, Nova Uniao, he has coached and graduated some of the biggest black belts in the sport, including Leonardo Santos, Rodrigo “Riscado”, Bruno Bastos and many, many others.

Named as “MMA Coach of the Year” by the renowned PVT Magazine (Portal do Vale Tudo) in 2010, Andre Pederneiras, also known as Dedé, is regarded as one of the top Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts (MMA) coaches in the World. The leader and co-founder of the Nova União academy, Pederneiras, is also famed for his work with the impoverished communities of Rio de Janeiro, having transformed several youngsters in those areas into world champions.
